not much going on for romney. wisconsin is a state where if they were going to crack the midwest code given what was happening with ohio they thought they could do it in wisconsin. the problem is twofold. if you look at the level of demographic change in wisconsin it is quite startling according to the population survey data. 3 point increase in share of minority voters and college graduates and 7 point decline among white on college voters eligible voters. these are huge changes that go exactly against what is in the interests of the romney team. maybe they thought if they nominated paul ryan they could take advantage of what they believed to be massive culturally conservative white working-class voter but doesn't seem to be happening. they are making some progress among white working-class voters according to the pole and some progress among college graduates but nowhere close to what is needed to take the state. they are not able to master the state in the face of demographic change and demographic patterns. fl

the conversation running the romney campaign and the conversation running the romney transition is two different worlds. obama is more complicated a by don't have that many conversations but i honestly believe he's not that dissimilar and it's a very different conversation than the one you have with jack or whoever is really thinking through what obama would actually do in the november and december of this year and in the first six months of next year so i don't think it's impossible. i think maybe it's just the way we have to conduct ourselves which is to pick it extremely quickly and get about the business of governing. i don't buy the argument that partisanship is so bad you couldn't get the democratic votes for the republican budget or vice versa. there will be momentum to deal with the programs with a are reelected they would like more than 50% of the vote given the absence of the third party candidates that will be an unusual such a vision we haven't had a long time with a certain kind of mandate i think. but in any case, i think over the next five weeks i don't think. >> condra

romney didn't mention it. i think it's the first time for the office of president when we've been at war has not mentioned the ongoing war as part of this, you know, political speech to the american people. so it is very curious. but i think one of the reasons why it's not a bigger issue is that the president is articulated a clear plan. we have 49 other countries plus the afghans that have bought in to that plan. it we have the insurance pots at end in case there is some challenges sober associationed with the plan. and ultimately i think the american people want top see a transition and do want to see the end of decade of war and a end of a decade in tens of thousands of young americans being in harm's way. that coupled with the very successful campaign against al qaeda has significantly reduced the risk that afghanistan poses to our vital interest. i think americans understand where we are, and they're generally supportive of the president's policies in this regard. >> i'd like to just ask a second question

it's not guaranteed romney will lose. obama after three great weeks is at 50 so it's not like he is at 54 with a big margin of error. that if romney doesn't lose, i think the big question will be is there someone who kind of challenges the party on issues, particularly with immigration and maybe a little bit on social issues. >> i think, i actually think that someone who explicitly makes the case would be worse -- look at a bob mcdonnell in virginia. he is someone who clearly was socially conservative, telegraph that very clear to his voters and the thought of him as reliable, and so he was able to go after suburban voters and what have you. but because you thought of him as reliable and say, he was able to frame things effectively. i think that's a better model. compare a huntsman to george w. bush. >> and marco rubio. i can imagine jeb bush is being the intellectual leader, but not running himself, maybe trying to see a rubio was not message of anti-and i can't get but further in this direction. i can sort of imagine th

talk about romney, what about obama? too if your view as mine is that we're not going to have a deal that doesn't have both revenues and spending and the biggest obstacle is on the revenue side and that, as i do believe and i have asked a lot of democratic senators if my perception is correct and they say yes, and that is, that republicans continue to believe that at the end of the day in the 11th hour democrats will relent again as they did in 2011 and at the end of 2010. frankly one of the things the president has to do is to make it crystal clear that he is damn serious and he is not going to accept a deal that doesn't have both revenues and spending. let's just lay that out there. and i think that when that becomes accepted, that is my fear of why we go into january. i think we may have to go into january because the republicans won't believe him until we get to january. the sooner that is believed that to me lays the pretty coot for both sides moving to get a bipartisan deal. >> i want to follow up on a question, or
